The Expedition House ("we", "us", "our") respects your privacy. This policy explains what personal information we collect through https://www.theexpeditionhouse.com and when you book or enquire about a trip, how we use it, who we share it with, and the choices and rights you have. By using our website or contacting us, you agree to the practices described here.
1. Who we are
The Expedition House is a Himalayan road-expedition and travel organiser based at Manali, Himachal Pradesh, India. For anything related to your data, write to info@theexpeditionhouse.in or call +91 9015039193.
2. Information we collect

Information collected automatically
- Technical data such as IP address, browser type, device type and pages viewed, used to keep the site secure and working well.
- Information from cookies and similar technologies (see section 5).
3. How we use your information
- To reply to your enquiry and call or message you about your trip.
- To plan, confirm and operate your booking, including permits, stays, transport and safety arrangements.
- To contact you or your emergency contact if something happens during a trip.
- To send booking updates, receipts and, with your consent, news and offers. You can opt out at any time.
- To improve our website, services and trip planning.
- To prevent fraud and abuse, and to meet legal, tax and accounting obligations.
4. Our basis for using your data
We process personal data with your consent (for example when you submit an enquiry), to perform a booking you have asked for, and where the law requires or permits us to do so, in line with the Information Technology Act, 2000 and the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 and the rules made under them. You may withdraw consent at any time by writing to us; this will not affect processing already done.
5. Cookies and similar technologies
- Essential: a session cookie and a security token that keep forms working and protect against misuse.
- Performance: our site stores static files (styles, images, scripts) in your browser so repeat visits load faster and the site can show a basic page when you are offline.
- Third-party content: we load fonts from Google Fonts and, on the Contact page, an embedded Google Map. These providers may receive technical data such as your IP address under their own privacy policies.
You can clear or block cookies in your browser settings; some features may then not work properly.
6. Who we share information with
We do not sell your personal information. We share it only as needed with:
- Hotels, camps, drivers, guides and permit authorities that deliver your trip.
- Payment, communication and website-hosting providers who work on our behalf under confidentiality obligations.
- Government, police or other authorities when required by law or to protect safety.
- Emergency services, rescue teams or medical providers if you need help.
7. How long we keep your data
Enquiries that do not become bookings are kept for up to 24 months. Booking, payment and invoice records are kept for as long as tax and accounting laws require, which is typically up to 8 years. We then delete or anonymise the data.
8. Security
We use reasonable technical and organisational safeguards, such as encrypted connections, access controls and secure hosting. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security. Please contact us immediately if you suspect misuse of your information.
9. Your rights
You can ask us to give you a copy of the personal data we hold about you, correct inaccurate data, delete data we no longer need, withdraw your consent, or stop marketing messages. To exercise any of these rights, email info@theexpeditionhouse.in from the address you used with us. We may need to verify your identity and will respond within a reasonable time.
10. Children
Our website is meant for adults. Trips for travellers under 18 must be booked by a parent or legal guardian, and we collect a minor's details only for that booking.
11. Where your data is stored
Our website providers may store data on servers inside or outside India. Where data is moved outside India, we take steps to make sure it stays protected as described in this policy.
12. Links to other websites
Our site may link to other websites such as WhatsApp, Google or social media pages. We are not responsible for their content or privacy practices.
13. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. The "Last updated" date at the top of the page shows when it last changed. Continued use of the site after an update means you accept the revised policy.
14. Contact and grievances
If you have a question or a complaint about how we handle your data, contact us at info@theexpeditionhouse.in, +91 9015039193, Manali, Himachal Pradesh, India. We will do our best to resolve it promptly.
